Introducing a New Community Manager!

Postby JessieS » October 13th, 2008

My responsibilities at BootsnAll have changed pretty dramatically over the last 2.5 years that I've held the title of Community Manager. I started out part-time with the company answering phones, doing customer service, and overseeing this fabulous travel community - and now I'm a full-time writer here. I love my job as it is now, and yet sadly it also leaves me very little time to actually spend here on the boards doing the CM job the way it should be done. So, after 2.5 years, I'm handing my crown over to your new Community Manager, Chris Heidrich.

Chris, better known as Hydro on the boards, will be a familiar name to most of you - he's one of BootsnAll's founders, and if you've ever had a problem with your BootsnAll blog or a technical question on the boards that I couldn't sort out, he's been the go-to guy. But after 10 years of doing mainly tech and design stuff, Chris is ready for something new - and part of his new responsibilities at BnA will now involve being the Community Manager.

As for me, I'll still be around at BnA and on the boards, so don't think you've seen the last of me. Wink I dearly love the BootsnAll Community - it's given me a whole host of great new friends around the world, and I firmly believe it's the soul of the company - and I loved being your Community Manager. So thanks to all of you for helping to contribute to that, and I look forward to seeing you around the boards!

Let's have a big warm welcome to Hydro in his new CM role! I think he'll look splendid in my tiara, don't you?

Would that make me a Down Under Overlord?

Either way I'm excited to more involved with the community again, after several years working more behind the scenes. My virtual door is always open so feel free to PM or start a thread if you have some feedback on stuff we're doing well or things we could improve on.

It should be an exciting time coming up as well. We've been spending a lot of time behind the scenes building some things that we think will be useful to the community, so watch out for some cool stuff later this year.

So thank you, Jessie for your tiara and the passing of the torch. And coincidently congratulations on your 4000th post with this announcement. I've got aways to go to catch-up.

Jessie, I'm so happy for you that you are excited about your job, that's quite a gift.

Its cool that we'll have a community manager who is already familiar with the boards and can jump right in and no doubt be a wonderful person for the job!

I was going to try to say something impishly funny but I'd probably get myself in trouble. I'll leave the impishness to Joe. Ninja Roses

Since joining Boots, I have come to know JessieS and she has been a great CM, always fair in her dealings with others and always ready to lend an ear and I'm a little sad to hear she's handing over the reigns.

However, things never remain static (excuse the pun) and are always changing. I'm sure Hydro (Chris) will make a great CM - I remember all his efforts to answer questions about the new look when Boots changed their design page. And the patience he showed in answering them.

So good luck to both of these great people in their (new) endeavours. Smile

I should have mentioned, I'm contemplating officially handing over the tiara at the BootsnAll party in December, in case anyone thinks seeing Chris in a tiara is a good enough reason to come to the party.

I think that's a wonderful idea. Now that his hair has grown back it may actually stay on his head, too. So he'll have to wear it for the rest of the party, right?

Chris in a tiara may be a better photo than his current avatar.

Congratulations Jessie & Chris. Big Grin

As per my signature - Ooops - did I say that? Makes it sound like you two are engaged... which I did not mean to say.... so I'll close my trap now.

...that, or just start another rumor, another thread, one filled with lots of cool comic-book style pics of them, etc. etc., something like the "Congratulations Jessie & Chris" thread Smile

It could be all the things that this announcement and an engagement announcement have in common...
