Can anyone tell me anything about Juba, South Sudan other than what I find on Wikipedia/Wikitravel?

I found a job for my hubby, but within 24 hours the question becomes irrelevant to my life as he is not in the slightest bit interested!
So I keep pursruing the Camino planning instead.

Ha! Though to be fair with reading about what's been happening in the Nuba Mountains on the border there lately I think I'd rather try the Camino option myself.

Not sure that had anything to do with it Yvette! Merely the fact that he loves his job here and has no desire to give it up even for another year, not even to live in Africa doing some do-gooder work;-)
Me? I'd be gone for the new exerience and then do the Camino before returning home! (plus all the while hoping he fell in love with the idea of not-Kiwi-suburban-living.

While this may not be relevant to mama-to-many, I would like to offer my suggestions to anyone who is interested in seeing South Sudan. I know that things are heating up there, but so far it appears that the war will be concentrated around the oil-rich northern border with Sudan and the south part of the country - Juba, the temporary capital, and other villages between the Congo and Uganda - will likely remain as they are today. Security and paranoia will probably increase but this is a fascinating country with amazing people.

I was just there for 2 weeks training social workers so I had a purpose to my visit. I recommend, if anyone wants to visit the country, that you volunteer to work with kids in any of the local orphanages that are doing remarkable work.

Any other questions, I'll be happy to answer.
