....and had a fabulous time!!!!
Wow. It was my first solo trip, and it went so well (despite my wallet getting stolen on my first day; it worked out fine).
The true highlight of this trip was getting to meet so many awesome people from Couchsurfing and hanging out with them -- Thanksgiving dinner, birthday parties, bars, etc. etc. etc.
My top favorite sights in the city:
1) Recoleta Cemetery -- if you're not a photographer, it will turn you into one.
2) MALBA -- this museum, with Frida Kahlo's self-portrait with monkey and parrot, is one of my favorite museums I've ever visited. Love modern Latin American art.
3) Tango milonga -- I went to a cultural center on Armenia in Palermo Viejo. It was the most FASCINATING thing I have ever seen -- all these people in street clothes and killer shoes, dancing passionately. You'd watch them and wonder just how well they knew each other -- and then they'd switch to another partner.
4) Jardin Japones -- this is a surprising little oasis in the middle of the city. Feed the koi fish!
5) Palermo Viejo -- STAY IN THIS NEIGHBORHOOD. You'll be glad you did. Very pretty, so much to see, great nightlife and restaurants, and tons of shopping.
6) Museo Evita -- I especially liked seeing all of her outfits, and getting to hear her tearful speech when she told everyone she was dying.
7) Buenos Aires Free Tours -- a great way to get to see the city on the cheap!
Highly recommend a trip to this city...

Thanks for the recap of your trip.
You brought back a lot of memories from our trip.
I also loved the Japanese Gardens. We went there a few times for a relaxing stroll.
