We are planning to spend 9 days on Kauai the first week of April (our first time in Hawaii). The guidebooks unanimously say that in the winter, the south side is better for snorkeling, while the north is better in the summer. That's clear enough, but what can we expect in April?
If we try to hike the Na Pali trail, is there chance of sun during this period? Rain does not bother us, but if the prognosis is one week of non-stop rain with low-haning clouds and zero chance of seeing anything, that would not be too exciting.
Thanks!

Kauai Weather in April

So this doesn't answer your question exactly, but I was on the north side of Kauai for 4 days in October of this year. Assuming October has the same mix of summer and winter as April, my experience might apply. While I was there the days were clear except in the afternoon/early evening where there were clouds. The weather seemed to change a couple of times each day and depended on which end of the sky you were looking at. Again, assuming April is like October, you will hopefully will have a mix of sun and clouds.
This is all crap if my assumption doesn't hold. Either way it'll be gorgeous. Let me and the rest of us know if you want some specific recommendations for when you're there.

I'm curious how you made out. I'm planning a trip in a couple of weeks to Kauai and would appreciate some pointers.
Thanks!
