Hey My Travel People!

So I'm planning my first trip to Kauai, and I'm not big on fancy hotels cause I like doing my own thing. I think I'd like to stay On the North Shore of the Island, Any suggestions for me?

The North Shore has a lot of upscale communities so a lot of the resorts in that area are pretty pricey. If I were you I'd stay in Kapa'a. The island is small enough to get around fairly easy. Kapa'a to Kilauea and beyond is anywhere from 30-90 minute drive. If your funds allow it, you may be able to find a cheap condo around the North Shore. When are you planning on going?

If you are looking for cheap, there are a lot of campgrounds right on the beach on the north shore of Kauai. You do need to get a permit before you can camp, but the permits are cheap, and the views are amazing. The campgrounds are just grassy areas where you can pitch a tent. And they have showers.

I've actually rented from Kauai Vacation Rentals & Real Estate Inc. and they offered over 200 rental homes that were very homey and accommodating. You can find out more on their Facebook page, also check out their videos- they were really helpful for me, in terms of picking a place and location. Good luck and have a great time!

On the camping thing, Kauapea Beach aka Secret Beach is a great beach for this. It's also somewhat of a nudist beach because it's so private and secluded. It's got a huge cliff backdrop and it's a very large beach. One of the biggest on Kauai. Definitely check this out if you're up for camping. It's on the North Shore of Kauai.

Here's a few pictures I took while I was there...
