Hey all, I thought you might be interested my most recent iPod discovery: language learning podcasts!

I've been a fan of Grammar Girl's podcast for few months now, who is listed prominently. There are a few others that I am going to check out in the coming weeks. A quick glance through the catalog reveals podcasts for different languages, from the generic to the mildly exotic. A quick sample...

• Brazilian Portuguese (!)

Some of the podcasts seem to be somewhat specialize, which may be of interest. E.g.: Business English, Spanish for Children, etc.

To find the podcasts, follow these steps:

• Open iTunes
  
• Click on "iTunes Store" in the left-side menu
  
• Click on "Podcasts" in the iTunes Store's left-side menu
  
• Click on "Education" under "Categories"
  
• Click on "Language Courses" under "More Education"

Let's begin with the important stuff. If you can't say 'gopferdamminonemou' at the right times, you'll never be accpeted in Swiss society.

So, I've been working on my 'gopferdamminonemou' usage and pronunciation over the past week...and no joy People just laugh!

And, a dirty little auslander accepted in Switzerland? Never!

The trick, as with most things in life, is to do it without spitting.

Lol. Might be because those Zürich-oise simply don't understand my local dialect. It's quite astonishing. When I lived in Zürich, I started adjusting to the dialect - simply because it was too annoying to keep repeating myself.

This going to be a long shot, but anyhow: does anybody know of a free podcast to learn Bahasa Indonesia? I already checked the iTunes store and tried to google it.

Yo, Stoo. There actually is a Pimsleur Swiss German - just to let you know. Plus, downloading is legal in Switzerland - so you don't even have to worry about being kicked out as I do.

There are separate websites. Like Chinesepod.

Which I love btw. Although I've been slacking for the past month. It's great because instead of memorizing one word at a time, I'm learning how to say a phrase. And in language, certain words get reused over and over and over again, that you're learning the same way kids learn their primary language.

But there's a lot of internet resources for certain languages, and almost no resources for others.

I have about 5 languages I'd like to learn, but I doubt that's going to happen.

Argh, I'm so late to the game here! I just discovered itunes language podcasts last night. I downloaded a few random ones in Spanish and Portuguese, and I think I'm hooked. They make my handy Pimsleur look so stodgy and dull.

I've been listening to various language podcasts for a while now, but I can't seem to find one that fits best. Does anyone have a suggestion for a good Spanish podcast and a great Italian podcast? Any other good ones you've found as well would be good since I eventually want to learn Hawaiian, Dutch, French, and ASL. Thanks!
