We arrive at LAX airport at 14:30 and do not leave until near midnight. Is there anywhere we can get to for a few hours to stretch the legs (we'll have just flown 12 hours and still have a nine hour and five hour leg to go til we get home...all that on top of an overnight bus to get to the airport in the first place!)
Is there a bus that could take us somewhere not too far away? Cost? Anywhere to maybe get a meal?

Take the Lot C free shuttle to the Airport Bus Station. There you can, for $1, take the Big Blue Bus #3 to Santa Monica, where you can hang out at the beach, visit the pier, shop on the Promenade, and have literally hundreds of dining choices. The bus runs every 20-30 minutes or so.
