Hi Nick!

Departing Perth (where I live) and am staying in Seminyak from 3rd to 13th February. Solo trip for me. Lodging at the Bali Ayu - a good cheap budget hotel (well, that is what my travel agent said anyway - it better live up to its reputation).

Would like to meet up with other travellers (especially those that would like to accompany me into Kerobokan), and get along to one of your famous BBQs! Smile

I really want to visit my fellow Australians in gaol (especially Schapelle who is innocent). I booked this months ago - my timing has turned out that it could not be worse; the Bali Nine are in court virtually every day and I wish to stay well clear of the media circus. Also, getting information about how to get into Kerobokan Prison to visit anyone has been well nigh impossible. Frown

Nick - you have actually got into Kerobokan and have visited some prisoners including Schapelle. Can you tell me how to get into Kerobokan Prison and what 'gifts' should I bring that would be of most practical use?

Cheers,
Bali First-timer

Hey Static is mid/end of April a popular travel time for people wanting to go to Bali from Singapore? I checked the two airlines you suggested and they were booked. I tried many dates. It's probably for the best. I don't want to rush my time in SEA. The only reason i even thought of Bali was someone I know said if I had to choose between Maylasia or Bali that I should get a ticket from Singapore and go to Bali. The truth is I'm trying to see to many countries with not a lot of time. Anyways thanks Liliana

Thanks for writing. Sorry I haven't been in touch Bali First-timer, super busy, no time.

I hope your trip to Bali was all you wanted it to be, the weaher right now is fantastic!

To get into Kerobokan jail you just show up, its off of Jl. Raya Kerobokan. Ask your taxi driver to take you to the jail.

They are open in the mornings and afternoons, closed for lunch. I forget the exact times. It costs about 20,000rp to get in. You can't take electronic devices, but can take snacks, foo, drinks, money. All will be welcome.

(my anxious firs post). I can confirm that one day contact lenses are easily available at a fair price at the optometrist right next to Raja´s Restaurant, which blew up. Yeah, that´s actually the place where I used to buy my contacts, in Kuta Square.
Hope that is of any help to the one asking. Smile

Hi Nick and all ..

How are you ?

My name is Ical, I am an Indonesian living in Ireland. I would like to rent a car for about 4 days, I want to drive it to Banyuwangi, Jawa. We are four people, me and another 3 Irish friends.

Can you please tell me where is the best place and contact number for this car rental in Bali (Kuta) area?
Do you have any idea how much it would cost me with or without driver ?

I need a car such as land cruiser that suitable for the advanture trip to the rough area such as mountain tracking and to the beach.

Thanks a million for your help.

Smile

Hey Ical
What on earth are you doing living in Ireland?I am from there and would never leave a place like Indonesia to live there!
Anyway re car rental if you go back to some of the old articles on the site Nick has given lots of advice on car rental. He generally advises that you don't worry about pre booking as there is somebody on every street corner willing to hire out a car with or without driver.
Hopefully somebody -- maybe Barrie wil be able to help clue you in on the current costs. It is most important that you know a realistic price otherwise you can get ripped off.

Hi Laura.. what's the story ?

Thanks for the info Smile
yeah .. I work and study here in Dublin. Originally I came from Banyuwangi, East Jawa. Going home next week for holiday and some friends want to come along with me.

My friend told me that there is a floating restaurant in Jimbaran or somewhere in Bali, like have a nice dinner in boat/cruise and back to port again after dinner.

Do you know about this ?? If anybody know about this place or how to contact them to make booking ? please let me know.

Thanks a mill !!

Hu Ical
There are a couple of really good dinner cruises leave from Benoa Harbour each night. The Bali Hai dinner cruise is very popular. You book it once in Bali. They pick you up from your hotel take you to the boat and then bring you back to your hotel afterwards. They have good food and entertainment. It lasts for about two and a half hours.
