Bali has a lot going on, surf, shopping, restaurants, beaches, volcanoes, temples etc.
Sometimes people are searching for something in particular, or a kind of Bali that isn't so particular. Tell me what you are looking for and I will try to help you find it.
Let me help you find what you want in Bali

Hi Nick,
I made it to Bali 4 or 5 weeks back it was and it was great and I loved the Balinese people. So nice to us all over there and it was not a problem like I thought it might be. We were all worried as there was 90 of us Australian's heading over for the wedding and with all the news and stuff thought we might get miss treated.
The Bali people could not be nicer to us if they tried and a smile to them goes such a long way. I loved every day and am planning to head back in about 2 months maybe for a longer time maybe 3 to 4 weeks.
I am posting in here as I asked you before I left if you new a guy in Bali that is a well known spear fishing person.
You were looking into it but could not find him.
Well I found him after a 5 hour drive all over Bali looking in every fish related shop I could till I got a good lead on him.
So for your records if anyone ever wants to go spearing in Bali you must see Andre as he organises everything for you. He has boats and all the gear and custom made spear guns as well. I own a spear fishing shop in Australia and know my spear fishing and Andre is the person any one should use if into the sport while there.
Andre’s website in Bali
All I can say is if any other Australians are thinking of leaving Bali out please give the people a chance.
The true Balinese I met were just so nice and were great to get to know.
Thanks for your help in looking into it all for me Nick much appreciated.
I got so many quicksilver and billabong shirts its not funny lol I still got heaps sealed in plastic.
Thanks
Aaron

Nick, the girl I'm travelling with is keen to know whether she'll be able to buy disposable contact lenses in the Kuta, Legian, Seminyak area? Is it possible to pick them up at the chemist?
Thanks

1) Directions to the Nokia Shop.
2) a tailor as I would like a full lenght Jacket made. Either wool or soft leather .. 10 yrs ago (the last time I went to Bali) I had a coat made in The Dolphin Leather shop. Is that still around???
3) Sis wants to have shoes made...

Hi, Nick.
My wife and I will be visiting Bali for the first time this Fall. I am a health educator with a focus on post-disaster stress for families and children, she'll be providing a program to help some of the people who worked on tsunami recovery, and, afterward, we'll spend a week exploring the island. We're both in our 50's, we don't surf, we don't care about bars and nightlife (did that for too many years), we prefer places away from tourists and where we can: snorkel in a tropical paradise, meet wonderful local residents and experience their culture, hang out with some laid-back people our son's age (as we did on a bare-bones dive boat on the Great Barrier Reef with 50 backpackers in their 20's), avoid dangerous creatures...or those with 8 legs, still have access to some creature comforts (comfortable bed, clean room, our own bathroom, a good meal, etc.), purchase some items which support the local culture, and turn off the inner noise of Western civilization for a while. I don't know where we're staying during the "work" part of the trip, and haven't yet priced the best airfare and route but I'm certainly open to any recommendations for the above-mentioned.
Also, I present a lot of programs for doctors and in hospitals, and, if the need and interest are there, would be happy to do the same during our stay.

nick,
This is going to sound like trying to find a needle in a haystack!
There is a pretty good guy i met down on kuta beach, he hires out surfboards, he is a Christian fella from sumatra, his name is Junior.
Am trying to get hold of him to become a sponsor for me if i do end up coming to bali to live for a while
Other names he will know are Senior (friend of his) and Petrick (sells cold drinks at Kuta Beach) their spot down at kuta is about 20m to the left of the toilets opposite the T-junction of Poppies 2 and Jl Kuta Pantai. (as you are facing the beach)
As i said its a roughie! (its a bit like you asking me if i know Joe Bloggs in Perth) lol
But i thought it was worth a shot!
Would love to make contact with those guys again cos they are real good guys!
cheers mate

Hello Nick, if your still in the helping mood. I would like a cheaper hotel in Kuta area. Normally I stay in a bungalow at the Inna (Natour) Hotel but I'm trying to save money and get to Bali 2 x this year instead of once, so want to budget some. I would like either down poppies 1 or 2 if possible unless you know of a better place.
thanks in advance

hi Rach1966. there are plenty cheap hotels around Kuta. First time went there my bf's family and i were staying at Melasti (the one in Legian, $37). good hotel that was, quite far from the noise. there is another melasti in Kuta (close to kuta square), it's cheaper ($32) and i think it's as good as the other one. havent stayed there, tho.
last two times i was there i was staying at bakung's beach cottage, cheap cheap cheap ($23).facilities are ok, people are nice. im heading to bali again this month and prolly gonna stay at green garden. ima try that one. i'll letya know how it is.
me and my bf would love to meet up with anyone there. we desperately need something to do other than going to kuta square and waterbom. can anyone help? being a one-or-two-day volunteer is ok.

Hey Nick I don't know if you or someone else knows... but I was wondering how much a ticket cost from Singapore to Bali and vice versa. Also is Bali expensive to visit. If I forgo traveling around Malaysia and instead head to Bali I will have more questions for you. Thanks

Tera makasih Nick,
Can you tell me the name of a travel agency that I can contact ahead of time to purchase airline ticket? Or could you tell me if getting a flight to Timor in July will be difficult. I remember that I had trouble last time I was in Indo that month - everyone was traveling.
