Interesting topic...I guess I haven't really developed a lifetime adventure list but obviously I should! Off the top of my head:

Ski the Grand Teton
Kayak the Middle Fork of the King's river from the source
Cathedral Traverse (Tetons) in a day
Sport climbing in Thailand
Kayaking in Nepal/Tibet
Dive the great barrier reef
Ski in Kashmir

I'll have to get working on a more concrete list and return to this thread!

so here goes

1. Find a lost inca city
2. Explore more mayan sites
3. visit the Chachapoya and Chavin sites in Peru
4. do a big hike in Nepal, Kashmir or katmandu or all of them plus tibet
5. explore SW china
6. explore Burma, go up the Irriwaddy to Bagan, take hot air baloon ride over Bagan
7. See the pyramids and explore the nile river
8. Do an african photo safari in a remote game filled area.
9. Explore indonesia outer islands also philipines
right now am going to singapore and then maybe several other area in S.E Asia to set up a furniture factory arriving early march, spending a month so will see lots of stuff.

I posted my bucket list on my blog about on Jan 1, 2008. Talk about your resolutions! Since then I've been able to complete several things and added a whole lot more. Here's the adventure list:
1. Complete an Adventure Race. Done http://toocoolracing.com/. We've got our next one in August. Too Cool!
2. Climb a mountain. (While generic. I'm looking at some of the 14'ers in CO this summer)
3. Horseback riding on the beach. Done
4. Learn how to Mountain Bike. Done I've been mountain biking in CO, Utah, and TX now for over a year. I'm heading to Peru this summer to get in some more action down there.
5. Rent ATV's around the Grand Canyon. Done Thank you Mr. Blackjack table.
6. Hang gliding in Switzerland.
7. Bungee Jump
8. Fall in Love. That's the scariest adventure of them all.

Other ideas that are not for the faint of heart and have some shaking in my cowboy boots.
1. I have a friend who's starting up a Learn to Ride a Bull day camp program. You would pay to come out to the ranch in Texas and he would spend the day teaching you to ride bulls. You know. After you sign away your life.
2. If you're a sports nut, I have some biking friends who followed the Tour de France route one summer.

This is an awesome thread.

Also, @SoloTraveller, regarding "Stay in all of NZ's huts and complete all great walks!" - an excellent choice, no one else really mentioned that! Of course, maybe I'm being prejudiced and all, having done exactly that (and it was awesome.) Well, so maybe I didn't get to hike the Milford, but I got all the rest.

And yeah I've done some of the others, like Machu Picchu, African adventures....

Honestly, what is on my to-do, adventure travel-wise, is to sign up for any of the adventurist's adventures. the mongol rally (london to mongolia in a tin can) is definitely on my list. the rickshaw run seems much more doable if one has time constraints, and i love tuk-tuks/3 wheelers anyway, so i'm game. cape-to-cairo has always been a thing for me, but the adventurists africa rally (london to cameroon, 1000cc max cars). and of course one could always channel che and tour not just south america by motorcycle, but take a ural with a sidecar and go from tierra del fuego to prudhoe bay.

one of these days. when i have money. yeah, that's going to happen.

Hi Kate and Dan,

Great list, and great blog! I see that you've "crossed off" #56 - Overnight in a boat in Halong Bay - that sounds great! And your #72 - Visit the Hagia Sophia - it's well worth it. Istanbul is a fascinating city.

Peace,
