eat to live means that one is not consumed with desires to eat different foods, food is mainly sustenance to live life. Or that is what I think hugh means.
I am of the live to eat bunch. There are few pleasures in life that make it worth living, and at least you can have food that you need to consume everyday, might as well enjoy it, right?

It definitely has to be Live to Eat. All things being equal, I'd take a place{city,region,country} for its cuisine. Hence, Spain,Italy,France,Turkey rank high in my list.

I like trying all kinds of different foods/cuisines but I don't condone overeating each one all the time. Just enjoy/experience the food.

I'm usually eat to live.
But when we're talking about mom's cooking, I do a 180 degree turn and go for "live to eat".
Honestly, the only food that has made me go "MMM!!!" would be mom's soups and stews.
But as they say, nothing comes close to mom's cooking.

Live to eat for sure. Trying new foods is something that I always do when I'm on holiday, and I think that if you understand a country's food, you'll understand its people. The world over food brings people together and shapes, and has been shaped by, the nation's and its people's experiences.
