so im considering buying one of these passes. i have used a similar pass to do the tourist activities in nyc, it seems to save a lot of time and money. so im curious to see if anyone has used either of these types of passes, and what their experiences are with them.

I haven't looked at the passes in a while but in general I'd say that neither of those two passes are worthwhile. Ultimately, though, it really depends on what you'd like to see/do while in Britain.

The London pass doesn't have all that many sites that most people generally see. Although you could get a one day pass and make a mad dash to the couple of major places that it allows entry to and maybe save a few quid.

The Heritage pass is largely only of any good if you're driving around Britain and has little to offer for London.

The London Travelcard is only a good value if you're looking at spending 6 or 7 days in London and then you'd get a 7 day Travelcard. Otherwise, its often cheaper to just get an Oyster Card (pay as you go card). Keep in mind most of your travel is likely to be in Zone 1-2 so it generally doesn't pay to have a Travelcard that gives access to Zones 1-6. In those instances its best to just get a Zone 1-2 Travelcard and then also pick up an oyster card and use that for any trip outside of Zone 1-2.

I'd go with the Great Britain Heritage Pass. It is cheaper and has a lot of value. It's more recommended as well.

Exactly what we did - drove round Britain and used our pass almost every day. Did not get to London!
So if you are not based exclusively in London and want to visit at least a handful of castles and archeological sites, it's definitely worth it.
