I'm starting to think about where I will store all my stuff when I'm on this long term trave.
I have the place all picked out.
My question is, How do I store my stuff up to 2 years and make sure it's safe for when I return.

Stuff like:
1) Clothes
2) Rugs
3) Furniture

Nothing is ever 100% safe, so the main thing is to make sure it's insured, wherever it is.

Storage is a huge industry. When we went, we hired a mover who made most of the storage arrangements, while a few things that we wanted to keep heated (piano, computers, etc.) went to my in-law's house. Self-storage lockers are also quite popular.

I did a lot of research in my local market for places to store all my stuff long term, whether at a moving companies facility, or self-storage.

I found a moving company that worked 99% of the time with insurance companies, to store contents for their clients if their homes were damaged, had excellent unpublished flat rates for long term storage.

I stored all my contents from a two bedroom suite for $50/month in a climate controlled facility.

I agree with 2wanderers here. You would be best off with some form of content insurance covering your items in storage even if you're with a professional storage provider. You could also see if you've got friends or relatives in the area that wouldn't mind putting some of your stuff up too!
