Looking for Choquequirao trek partners - Oct 23/24 start

Figure out the best way to get from Central to South America, when you should book your accommodations for Carnaval and local language school recommendations. If it's on South America, it's in this forum.

Looking for Choquequirao trek partners - Oct 23/24 start

Postby PassportJunkie » October 9th, 2009

My wife and I are planning to do a 4-day Choquequirao trip...we'd like to depart around 23/24 October; we've called a few operators and no trips currently scheduled, so we're hoping we can find 2-3 more folks to form a group and get a better price. We're both easygoing, 32 year olds from California - can check our travel blog at http://www.toddandjuli.com to learn more about us.

Please reply or message me, thanks!

As luck would have it I'm having lunch with oscar ibarra, who owns www.choquiquirau.com, i probably spelled that wrong, but anyway i think they are usually closed for the season by now, but he knows the local scene in Cachora and i will see what he can do for you. He took very good care of us on our 8 day trek. You can see my book on blurb, on Choquequirao, if you are interested in doing the extended version of this trip. I think it starts getting wet there now, and if so, would not relish being on those trails, then as it was rough enough, bone dry in Mid June when we went.

@zoomcharlieb: thanks, any connections/local info would be appreciated. I read some of your posts related to the trek and they were useful as background info. We are hoping to do the 4-day Choquequirao in-and-out, and take the easy way (train & bus) up to MP (either before or after the trek).

My luncheon got postponed till thursday, but in the meantime you might try Sergio Espinosa. He was our guide. Pm me and I will get his e-mail address. I also have around 500 picture on flicker under zoomcharlieb. Some of the muleteers live at the closest farm to Choquequirao, their mother runs a little concession there and their grandparents who are in their 80's still walk to town.

Call Oscar at 305 586 8416 and he will advise. They have a hotel in Cachora and can arrange everything from there and very reasonable. Be sure to take copy of Passport for the local sherrif. Very difficult to copy in Cachora.
