Looking for hikers for full-moon Kilimanjaro climb (Lemosho)

Postby Africaholic » July 29th, 2009

My friends are climbing Kilimanjaro (7-day Lemosho Route); 1st night, Sep. 28, in ARUSHA at Olasiti Lodge (NICE), start climb on Sep. 29, summit Oct. 4 (FULL moon), back in Arusha on Oct. 5, 2009 and overnight at Olasiti Lodge. Right now it is just that one couple, and they are hoping for at least two more climbers (+50 age bracket) for cameraderie sake. (The 7-day trek allows for acclimatization hikes, increasing one's chances of summiting by 90%.)

Their guide has climbed Kilimanjaro more than 250 times. He has proper medical training, carries all emergency equipment (including oxygen), and pre-assembles his crew, INCLUDING porters, assuring the best possible support and safety on the mountain. An additional porter who carries and maintains a PRIVATE toilet tent (one for max. 6 climbers in this group) is also included, and so is a mess tent, as well as table and chairs for all meals (including lunch). All meals are prepared fresh (NO box lunches). Transportation from/to Kilimanjaro Airport to/from Arusha, as well as from Arusha to Lemosho Glades and Mweka Gate to Arusha in 4x4 safari vehicles, is also included. Weather-proof 3-person tents (max. occupancy 2 persons to allow for all your gear being stored inside the tent) and 2 in. foam mattresses provided. All in all, superior arrangements! $2,489 per person, not including airfare.

Essential gear like sleeping bag, waterproof outerwear, down-filled summit jacket, gaiters, trekking poles, etc. is available for rent.

You can also hire a PERSONAL porter (prior arrangement necessary), so that you do not have to carry a daypack. A PERSONAL porter hikes with you at all times, not only carrying your water, raingear, etc., but helping you in many ways while on the mountain... priceless, especially on summit day!

My friends are going early, and do a 2-night Tarangire safari, Sep. 26 - 28 (additional cost). Anyone interested, is welcome to join them. Alternatively, I can help you make other safari arrangements before and/or after the climb.

Private message me if you are interested. Thank you.
