Hi all!

Our family is about to take a month long road trip around the US. I figure before gas prices get any higher, the kids ought to experience at least one Great American Road Trip. We'll be starting in Colorado, visiting family in Phoenix, darting over to San Diego and taking the PCH north to Bellingham Washington.

My question is, can anyone recommend a good website for finding vacation rental homes? After so much time in a car, I want a chance for us to decompress and have a little space, and I think hotels will start to wear on us pretty quick.

I've checked out VacationList.com and they have a lot of options, has anyone dealt with them before?

Thanks much! Wish us luck on our adventure!

http://www.airbnb.com is where I list my property in El Salvador, they seem to have an extensive list.

I've used vrbo.com before without any hitches. It's probably very similar to the one you mentioned.

I've looked at both for possible rental properties. I've booked on VRBO a couple of times; I don't think I ever ended up booking a place on AirB&B, for whatever reason. They're both reputable.

Just FYI, apparently airbnb charges a 12% booking fee - may want to look at vrbo. Another one is homeaway.com!

unlike airbnb, vbro charges the property owner a listing fee which is naturally included in the price to the customer, the only on service to charge NO fees to the customer is Hostelbookers but they are more into hostels than vacation properties.
