Lonely Planet has a nice new feature where you can download individual chapters of guidebooks for just a couple of bucks. It's still limited - right now only South America, Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean are available (with a smattering of some phrase books and walking guides), but if it's successful, I believe they plan to expand it.
I love the idea - that way you can pick and choose the areas you're specifically going to, and then pitch them or leave them when you're done without any guilt feelings. You wouldn't necessarily even have to print them out - you can load them on a flash drive or email them to yourself and access them at any internet cafe.

Just skimming through, it looks like prices range from $2 - $6 per chapter, depending on length I guess. Handy enough if you don't need too many chapters. Being able to access them without printing if you want is a plus.
