If only that were true...
MHW views any time I spend on BNA as "not doing my job".
If anyone cares to look through my posts, they will see that I rarely mention them at all. I am currently on holiday in Vietnam and am carrying no MHW stuff at all. (none of it fits me!)

Ressurecting this thread...
Separating now the money from the passport issues, when needing to keep your passport on you people seem to opt for:
Neck pouch
Shoulder pouch
Money pouch
Leg pouch
Hidden pocket built into pants
Hidden holder attacheds to belt lookp
Just kept in a bag
I'm trying to decide what to do, figuring I'll have it on my person for most of my 2+ months traveling. Neck pouch was what I was thinking, but that is irritating and obvious when worn with t-shirts. I don't think any of my pants have 'built-in' pockets big enough for a passport.
Anything else I missed above.
Unfortunatley, I don't think the bra option for a passwort will work for me 8-)

My Eagle Creek neck pouch is worn near the armpit and it is flesh-colored (both the pouch and my armpit) with a plush backing (the pouch, that is) so that it is not irritating.
My Visa card, big denomination bills and airplane tickets go in there. My daily "walk around money" goes in a front pocket, and a "bogus" wallet goes in the back pocket.

Whatever works for you works for you. I've used money belts, neck belts, and hidden pockets alike. One thing I will say to all money belt users:
Please, and I mean PLEASE, keep that day's funds in your pocket rather than in the money belt. There is nothing more ridiculous than watching a grown man shove his hand down the front of his pants to retrieve 2 euros.

Please note: the above member, who is the very model of a modern major-general, with information vegetable, animal, and mineral, has retired from BnA and won't be able to answer any follow-up questions. To speak with him, use the PM function.

Course it dawned on me that a neck pouch can be tied to a belt loop and used as an inside pocket as well...

When I have travelled I used a neck pouch which I found irritating.
I then bought bras which have removable padding. In the area where the padding comes out I put the money. This was practical and not noticeable at all.
This is how I will be carrying stuff when we travel next year - works well for me

Another suggestion for you is a 'Safe Belt'. We sell one and it is is quite popular. It looks like a normal belt but it has specially hidden zipped compartment. You can't use it to store credit cards but its definitely a good idea for stashing some cash in it as a back up.
Getting back to the original post and the concerns with neck wallets/purses being slashed, the PacSafe neck Pouches (Pouch Safe 100) have a slashproof wire-reinforced neck / shoulder strap.
I hope this helps!

I've always used a money belt. I've never found it particularly uncomfortable though. My friend found it uncomfortable but that was only because his big gut kept overlapping it. I guess they can be uncomfortable if you're slightly tubby. Last year I had to go to Africa and bring a ton of cash with me, so I split it up in several places: a couple hundred in each shoe (underneath the removable insole), a couple hundred in an ankle wallet, a couple hundred in my backpack, and the rest along with my passport and cards in my moneybelt.
One tip though, don't pull things out of your moneybelt in public. Keep a few bucks handy in your pants pockets, etc., so no one sees that you've got a stash hidden in your money belt. I've debated the pocket/wallets that you wear around your neck, but felt that would just keep getting in the way. Some people like to travel prefer to travel al fresco and not take any sort of precautionary measure, tossing everything into their pants pockets.

I use pants with internal, zippered pockets. It is much more comfortable than either the money belt or the neck pouch and probably more safe. It is also easier to access if you need to get at your money.
