My Rongai Route trip report
If you're planning a Kili trek, check out my trip report and photos here. I went via the Rongai route in February this year and highly recommend it. Feel free to email me with any questions you have. Enjoy!

Congratulations on summiting! I enjoyed your very detailed report and pictures and thank you for sharing how mentally challenging summit day can be. I plan to attempt this in January 2009 and am terrified on so many levels, but still have that little voice inside saying DO IT! Thanks again for showing me that with a lot of determination, it can be done.

Hi Travelling_Jess,
I just read your blog and WOW... I was so happy to read that you, indeed made it up, especially after you were feeling so crappy. Congrats!

Jess, good on you!
I went with AWC as well (Shira route) last year and so I got a warm buzzy feeling reading some of your stuff. Really fond memories.
Water for washing. Warm drink in the morning. Milo!!! Oh how I loved Milo! We had mostly Brits in our group and they hadn't experienced Milo...by the end they were asking me to send them tins from home! LOL
Sounds like it was pretty tough for you and Charlotte. Glad she was ok, sounds nasty.
I recognise some of the porters in your group as the ones that were on ours too. Not surprising, same company and all. How many guides did you have? Remember their names? Ours were Passian, Sylvester, Viviano and Stratton.
I want to go back!!! (don't tell my missus, she did not handle me being half way around the world climbing a mountain out of phone contact most of the time very well!)
