Oh, and Stoo - that was a good idea about those Cheap & Free guides. I went back and tagged the ones that hadn't already been. I adjusted your tags on your Zurich post so that all the guides are found under the "free and cheap" tag, the forum for which is now here.

Jessie - I enter items in the tags window but they don't show up. Ummm. I just saw that there is a tag on one of the threads (Best/worst airports). But the other still isn't there (I may never write again).

I just retried to edit something and this time it worked. Yesterday when it wasn't working it was weird. If I called up the edit window the corrected information showed up but when the window closed it didn't wasn't there.

Thanks.

I like that as well, but was wondering if there was any way to reduce the amount of text in topics already tagged. This is the current format:

This thread is tagged:
blah
blaaah
blahh

Click any tag to search for other posts on the same topic, or check out the tag index.

What are tags?

Perhaps just the

blah
blaah
blahh

would be enough

I was thinking the same thing. I love the tags - I just went and edited some of my older posts - but wouldn't you think most people know what tags are? It seems like a lot of instruction (IMHO). Smile

Me too. It overly verbose at the moment...

Just so everyone knows, I'm collecting all feedback - good and bad - and we'll decide what to do with it later. If there are things that are easy to adjust and make sense to adjust, we'll probably do that sooner. If there's something that requires programming time, it might wait. But no matter what your feedback is, we want to hear it! So keep it coming...

Does it make sense to allow tagging of Chit Chat posts? Since they cannot be viewed without an account, and are by definition not travel related, maybe tagging should be disabled there?

Bug: So, on the index we see moderator geek squad (2) and when you click it three entries show up, two of which are the same thread.

I know, I saw that - I don't know what's up with that. One of the links for that duplicate thread doesn't even work. I'll add it to the list, along with the note about the chit-chat posts.

Some capitalized tags have gotten through: Europe, Rick Steves.

I don't see how to add tags for photo albums.

Stoo, our one-man QA squad...

1. There are no tags on photo albums. Yet. Might be version 2.0.

2. I'll add the capitalization thing to the list, too, although I don't know if it's really a problem. It would only be an issue, I guess, if there was a Europe and a europe, which I don't see right now.

So are we gonna get to see a cloud view too? Big Grin Seriously, I'm way excited about this feature - it's a great idea! It would be nice if the software could suggest tags based on the content of the post - I love that feature on other sites.

Which I just tried to do...pretty fancy...I was expecting duplicates...but it is smarter than me. Yup, fancy.

Now, this might be asking for too much, but it might be cool to have suggested tags, sorta like how del.icio.us works. Smile

There are lots of threads that deserve tags but you are never going to get people to tag them, nor that motley lot of overpaid moderators. Maybe you could have a new admin level: tagorators. Cool

I've started tagging all threads that I start with 'jester'. That way, if you want to ignore all the fluff on bna and get straight to the good stuff, you can just search for me. You're welcome!

I wondered when we would see our first case of tag abuse. Clearly we need to legislate and litigate to prevent the Gartenjester, etc. from running amuck. Crazy
