New South Wales revisited

Postby uspn » June 17th, 2009

Hey all,

I promise that this is my last batch of Australia photos to hit you for at least a decade. #8D)

I had a couple of weeks to fill in while I waited for my plane from Sydney back to the real world. I spent them mainly in the Blue Mountains and in Port Macquarie.

Now, I know that lots of tourists go to these places, but since I bumped into few others when I was there, I must have done something right. Or wrong.

Anyway, if you're going to these places and you're happy to do some hiking and get at least slightly off the beaten path, I think my photos may give you an idea of what you may discover.

Here we go: http://www.pvv.org/~bct/nsw/

Oh, and there are some bits and pieces from Sydney as well. I've kept the usual Opera House shots to an absolute minimum, though. #8D)

Happy trails,

These are wonderful photographs. I'm amazed that no one else has commented. Is there anybody else out there?

Thank you, Groo. It seems this board is not that busy a place these days, for some reason. Don't cry for me, though, I get lots of nice and often useful comments on my photos elsewhere. #8D)

There'll be some new photos coming up shortly. I just returned from a trip to Northern Norway, where I did lots of hiking and photography. White nights galore!

Fabulous photos!

More importantly, where did you go in the Blue Mountains? Where did you stay? Any particularly great hikes?

Thank you.

I relied on public transportation, so my hikes were all out of Katoomba and Blackheath. Fortunately that was more than good enough for me. From Katoomba I enjoyed just walking out of town westwards and south along the Narrow Neck road, dipping into Jamison Valley and continue south to Ruined Castle and continuing towards Mount Solitary. It certainly was a solitary walk, and I saw several animals along the way.

Out of Blackheath, I just walked along the cliff ridges and enjoyed the view of the Grose Valley from lots of different angles. The trail down in the valley was closed several places due to landslides, so it just made most sense to stay elevated most of the time.

The Three Sisters really pales in comparison to what you can see on both those walks, but I'm glad few people know this. #8D)
