I really like Farecompare's map - type in a US point of origin, select a month and it populates a world map with fares.

I'd like to do the same thing with non-US points of origin. If you know of one please reply with it.

BootsnAll had a crack at that a little while ago: Getting From

It was an experiment, so no promises on how polished it is, but it worked for me from Auckland, so have a try from your city.

Kayak's Explore feature also does a great job.

Both of those work great. Thank you
My idea is to use it for RTW scenario testing. Things like "OK, now I'm in Buenos Aires. What does it cost to get to a new continent?"

And testing led me to the quick surprise that it's cheaper to go from Buenos Aires to Europe than to South Africa.

Yes, unfortunate as it is, the cheaper routing involves a lot more time on a plane (if you wanted to continue down to Sth Africa). I wonder if there might be more direct routes opening up now that Argentina has joined the former Tri-Nations rugby group. There will be teams and fans from both countries wanting to travel to the other cheaply and directly.
