Hooray! And trust me, with this lot lots of questions is a big compliment.
All I can say is pity you'll be so close yet not coming to Amsterdam!

Yvette, Here's my hidden dream. That we will all fall in love with *walking* (I already have), and that in the not-too-distant future while the older kids do their university study, the rest of us will head to Amsterdam (a relatively cheap destination from NZ, and somewhere we want to return to for a decent time), then we'll walk....to Rome and on to Jerusalem.
At that point we'll probably need to return home to earn some $$. Further dream expeditions include walking the length of the Great Wall of China (we've only done 10km so far!), Alaska to Patagonia, cycling from Capetown to Cairo......
We'll meet face-to-face yet!

Doing every pilgrimage in the book eh- your kids at university will be jealous.
I have ~3 more years in Amsterdam which isn't enough, but what can you do. Had no idea it was relatively cheap to go to NZ from here though, that's a nice piece of information to tuck away for later...
