I'm leaving next month for my first solo RTW and was wondering which security option to go with as well.
I thought abt getting the Pacsafe cable lock for my backpack- and maybe that mini(pouch)pacsafe for my electronics.
Has anybody purchased one of the Pacsafe sling bags or messenger bags? I need to get a daypack since my backpack (OspreyPorter45L)didn't come with one. I really don't want to wear a money belt if I can avoid it.
What's your money storage system? Especially the women- where do you put your money if your wearing a dress for example, and a money belt obviously won't work? I'm guessing some kind of sling purse? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Pacsafe?

What are tags?
I've got a daypack as well as my regular pack and a money belt. Didn't bring dresses due the the "how to get to my money" problem - sticking to skirts. I've got one of the really light cross-body bags (that folds into a little pouch) for other stuff. Will keep a "fake wallet" on me as well if I do get mugged (with a bit of cash/cards I don't use).
No packsafe items for me as I've found the actual pacsafe quite heavy and the sling backs/messenger bags don't crumple up/compress enough for me to bring.

(at least I have the receipt) And I just saw a guy coming out of the airport (in Chicago) wearing one and my first reaction was "Oh honey! Why don't you just tattoo 'I'm scared of this big crime-ridden city!' on your forehead and get it over with! Frankly, I was almost insulted on behalf of my hometown to have someone broadcasting that they think it's a such a scary place.
That is exactly what happens... especially when you rock up in some third world country wearing one!

Classic!
I think the whole packsafe thing makes you much more of a target.. you stick out like a sore thumb!
If I were a would be theif, I'd be thinking "hmm what expensive items have they got there?" and I'd think about mugging you.
I carry nothing of real value, that I can't afford to lose... whenever my bag is out of sight... that is fine. The worst that would happen is I'd lose some dirty clothes.
Taking technology with you can spoil a lot of the fun and freedom of travel.
Just my thoughts.
