Hey all - my wife and I are currently in Guatemala. We are spending 2.5 more weeks here and then heading to Panama to meet her parents for 2 weeks (they are flying here from Canada). Panama was their choice as there is a ton of things to see in and do (especially enough to kill 2 weeks), and not quite as touristy/expensive as Costa Rica. But, what I am beginning to worry about is the rain. Here in San Pedro, Guatemala the rainy season has begun. The mornings are beautiful, but the rain starts at about 1PM and doesn't stop until the evening. Does anyone have any idea as to whether this will be similar in Panama? We were thinking of going as far west as David and Boquete, and then all the way to the canal. Thanks for your help. :)

I just came from there. Bring a raincoat or buy an umbrella, and find a nice place to relax as the rain pours down at various times. The good news is that when i was there, it rained in the morning, cleared up in the afternoons, rained in the late afternoon to nights. Some days it didn't rain at all, just threatened. Then a few days later it came down cats and dogs, and didn't really stop all day.

This was Bocas del Toro and Panama City.

Bottom line, bring a book, find a bunch of indoor activities in case it does rain.

When it doesn't it's a very precious place.

Good news. YOu can stay in Panama city for three days to see the canal, et all, and a lot of things can be gotten to by cab and are indoors. Casco Viego, no, but there should be some dry times to see that.
