not necessary for an able bodied person,,, your day pack shldt be too heavy,

Thanks for the info, Will try to keep day pack as light as possible ( under 15 lbs ) ??
Climbing with Tusker. Read an articale where the person said it was a good idea, increases your chances of reaching the sumit.

One other reason all the others (there were 7 in our climbing group) used a personal porter was to contribute to the local economy by hiring the additional porter. I didn't - it was a "macho" thing for me; the I-can-carry-my-own-weight mentality. Didn't have any problems with carrying my own backpack - but I did train to carry it myself ...
