as some of you know, i'm here in thailand at the moment working with a children's charity. last week four of us went to check up on some projects, drop off some malaria medication, and give some clothes and toys to a nursery school. That last part of the trip, the nursery school, was an absolute blat and we took many pictures...thought i'd share them:

That sounds great! I might have mentioned on this board that I think it's hard to find a good organization to volunteer for and do something productive - and this one sounds good. I'm not one for working with kids directly, but it sounds like there are other things you can do there as well...something to go on my long-term to do list maybe.
Kind of on a tangent, but does anyone know what the deal is with malaria medication in Asia and Africa for local kids? You get the idea in the US that the stuff is expensive, but it was seriously 6Rs ($0.13) for five weeks of pills in India. That particular one was strong stuff, maybe not something kids could take regularly or at all, but I think malaria is up there on the list of causes of death of kids in many countries. Is it really about the cost of preventative medicine? Lack of a good long-term medicine?
