www.steepandcheap.com often has really good watch deals. You just have to check it frequently, because they only sell one item at a time, and when it's gone, it's gone

okay.
so i do not need it, but i was thinking it would be cool to own an altimeter. i am a girl, so i do not want to wear something the size of a small turtle on my wrist. where might i look for girl-sized altimeters/watches w/many functions?

How about Casio, or some other Japanese maker! They are good at this!

I rememebr Casio had a watch they called a Frogman for divers and it was really cool looking!

So if a diver uses it it should tell how much down you go!

Do you need a watch to tell you how much down you going or how much up you going, or both?

I do not know if the same watch is capable to do both!

IT is like the railrod system in Japan!

East Japan for Tokyo and West JApan for Osaka!

Well I hope you find one watch that works up and down, otherwise you will need to weare two turtels on your hands, one on each side! IT is kind of cool.
