Hey guys,

I never should have learned Japanese! Anyone know of any American universities in Western Europe, where you could earn a Masters, and where the entire course is taught in English?

Just wondering...

What kind of Masters? I understand doing this is possible, but somewhat field specific--meaning the University won't be all English, but certain tracts will be.

What kind of masters? Hmm, yeah, I know I'm being kind of vague. Nothing specific right now, I just want to see what kind of programs, universities are out there.

BTW - I'm going to Zurich for a few days in a couple weeks. Any tips on must-see's?

A friend of mine did her Business Masters through the Open University - all in English as it was based in UK. She now works for United Nations in Vienna.

I'm sure if you do a search for Open Universty you will be able to study in English wherever you want in Europe. I have also heard that there are courses done in English in Universities in the Netherlands - but not sure if it extends to Masters.

Nearly every university in the Netherlands and Belgium offer complete Masters degrees and Doctoral programs (in a multitude of humanities subjects) entirely in English. Amsterdam, Leiden, and Utrecht would probably be good places to start.

You'd still have to start with location rather than just English language programs, but www.braintrack.com has extensive lists of links to universities by country. If you know the field it would not be too hard to see what's on offer in English.

The North American Studies department at my university just got funded for a graduate school. Check it out. www.fu-berlin.de

The University of Amsterdam seems like the most obvious one to me. That link contains a list of all of their English language programs, which is really an entire university. And Amsterdam is an amazing city.

There's a lot of schools in Sweden that have programs in English. Another plus is that Swedish universities are tuition-free, so you might want to look into that. Check out this website for more info about higher education in Sweden: http://www.studyinsweden.se/templates/c ... px?id=4908.

Another school is Jacobs University Bremen, in Bremen, Germany. It's an international school and everything's in English. I'm actually considering going there next year (for undergraduate, not graduate studies). jacobs-university.de.
