Potts and Ferris - Trying both

Postby AtomicTripper » November 5th, 2008

So this is my first post and want to say hello to all at BnA!
I love to travel but haven't done too much for the last several years. I have decided to begin working towards my only dream- "extended long term travel". I am male, 24, and have $2500 saved so far.

Two inspiring books I have read are Vagabonding (of course) and The 4 Hour Work Week by Tim Ferris which rocked. Being inspired by both I have began to cut out unnecessary financial elements of my life and focus on bringing in my target monthly income of $2000 in order to sustain my travels.

I have started an e-biz recently and want to say how exciting it is to try and find solutions that will enable me to work and travel abroad. I am not here to promote but to share ideas and am wondering if anyone here has had success in achieving residual monthly income for rtw travel?

Hi and Welcome!

Congrats on starting your own business. I read 4 Hour Workweek a while back and it made a big impact on me as well. I'm still trying to come up with a great idea (selling $100 pirate shirts?!) for an e business.
Good luck!

The pirate shirt thing, yea, I wish. But what I'm trying to do is sell a digital product very cheaply to many people. ie.- $3.99 x 1000 customers = $4000.00 per month reoccurring mulah.

if you are interested in some of the things i have done business-wise so far you can check my blog at onlinebizjournal.blogspot.com (note-i do not mention the product or service i am selling because i am NOT ADVERTISING). it is just a record of what I have been up to, to hopefully sustain my rwt adventures.

I've thought of the same thing, an e-business that would generate income while traveling. I know what I want to sell, have the company name, logo etc. I just need to design the website and figure out how it all works!!

I'm sure there is a way to have my products shipped by somebody other than myself, but I have no clue how yet! haha

It's called drop shipping. Ferris talks about it in his 4 hour workweek book. If you google drop shipping, you'll find companies that do it. Not sure if anyone will have the product you want though.
