Hi everyone, great forum! Looking to go solo to Bali possibly in May 08 for say 10 days..(I'm 29yr old girl) and wanting to meet new people, make new frinds, but a little shy to start with.. (i've been to Bali twice before but with boyfriend/friends back in 05.)
Hoping to get some info on the following:
1. where to stay in Legian that's clean, affordable, and a pool would be nice too.
2. Do I book a package or just book flight, and a couple of nights then wait til I get there to have a look around?
3. Where to hang to meet people..also I like salsa dancing, is there any places that have this?
4. Just looking to have a relaxing chilled out time, bit of partying, not really do any tours (done before), but are there other places I should stay/visit?.
Many thanks in advance!!

Hi Lirpagirl,
Thanks for your post.
I am also traveling solo to Bali for a couple weeks, I leave next Wed. I'm 33 female, from USA, never been to Bali before. I have traveled a lot solo & hope that Bali is an easy place to meet others, etc.
I don't have a set itin yet, but have been researching things a bunch. I will let you know if I dig up any helpful info for you and other SFT!!

I'm also forced to go solo after friends bailed on the trip. I'm not sure how much i'll enjoy traveling alone but figured i would give it a try. I'm in bali from apr 25 to may 16th still havent found accommodations yet though. Any other solo travelers want to meet up?

Re: Tips for Solo Girl in Bali
Solo Girl ,I have spent been several weeks alone in Bali in the past ,as a result of friends running off with holiday romances or choosing to stay behind as a result of not wanting to leave.
You will have no problem meeting people on your travels .look I recon most will be men, but you would expect that to be the case. Men seem to always be more friendly to single women.
My thoughts about package holiday for a few days is a smart idea will give a chance to familiarise yourself with the place and allow you to scout out a place to stay within budget. will also give you a great price on airfare. Even if you don’t like where you are staying on package does not mean you have to stay there once you find a place you like.
Are you looking for a hotel or looking for something really budget, most off the cheap places in Seminyak have been replaced by developments and villas but if you hunt around I’m sure you will find something.
the only place on the beach in seminyak that is you may get a cheapish room is the Palingi hotel you may even get package deal there .I have in the past.
Recommend for a great breakfast in a social environment the Corner Store on Eat Street (Jl. Oberoi )
Another great place is on the beach in Seminyak or at Ku De Ta in the evening for drink and music.
I could go on and on love bali
Have a great time if you wolud like any more help feel free to Ask. Just be open to what to univerise provides and you will have a great time.
