Flight to India

Figure out the best place to stay on Khao San Road in Bangkok and where to escape when you've had enough of the mayhem. From Singapore Slings to the changes in Bejing after the 2008 Olympics, gab about it all here.

Flight to India

Postby Alex Sommer » June 15th, 2009

Hello everyone!

I am currently looking for flights to India from the New York City area. Probably flying out of JFK or LGA.
Are there any suggestions as to cheapest cities to fly into India, airlines I should stay away from, etc.? I really do not want to spend more than US$1,000 on a flight.

I am looking to travel between Dec.20-Jan.20

Also, any other must sees that I need to know about on my very very short trip? Unfortunately, I will be stuck in Goa for most of the time, but will have some time to get around a little bit as well.

Thanks for any help!

Hi Alex,

Does it matter which Indian airport you fly into?

Call our reservations crew between 11am-9pm eastern time and they might be able to find you a deal: 1-888-379-9411

Or check out this site to find the lowest price.

You can fly direct to Goa these days.
Or, the nearest large city is probably Mumbai and then get a flight connection down to Goa.
If you dont fly down from Mumbai you can get the train which it is an overnighter, or 18 hours by taxi - I have done all 3 options!!
But I am sure you can get a flight connection from any of the main cities to Goa.
Unfortunately any travel over the Christmas period bumps the price up - this is peak season in Goa.
The main Indian international carriers are all (surprisingly?) very good so I would worry about using any of them.

You dont say where in Goa, but if you can try and get to South Goa - Palolem is stunning!!!

North Goa is for party animals.
Life is such an adventure, I can't wait to live it some more.

I wouldn't mind being stuck in Goa for a while. Just don't get me stuck in a party town. I was in a quiet town and it suited me fine.

Palolem is beautiful, and Goa has a lot more to offer than it's beaches. It was colonised and controlled by the Portugese, and there are still some stunning reminders of this. I like their churches, which are active, quite a bit.
