Iceland accommodation

Postby suryas » July 1st, 2009

Hello,
we are going to Iceland for 2 weeks. We will be driving around the island. Can anyone give us any advice about the accommodation? Is it difficult to find a room without booking in advance?
Thanks for your help.

What time of year will you be in Iceland? That may effect how far in advance you need to book.

Here is a link to accommodation in Iceland as a starting point.

From the best I can tell, there are a lot of people going to Iceland this July and August on the premise that it is a cheaper summer than it normally would be due to the currency collapse (although in reality I am not so sure it really is going to be) and, therefore, accommodation appears to have limited availability and what is available is more expensive.

We're arriving about a week after you and are also driving, but are planning on camping instead.

Don't worry,Wether you are going to the west, east, north or south Iceland you can always find good high quality accommodation. There are great hotels all around Iceland.
