... whilst traveling?? up until now i've always helped my girlfriend (she's the photographer) share the load and have split everything into two of our daypacks and i'm the official tri-pod man (then i feel important)! we try to pad it all and have small camera bags that fit into our daypacks, but it's a pain digging in there after you put everything away do to rain, crazy crowds, transportation, etc... any creative tips?? if not, does anyone know of an affordable, proper, padded camera bag, with room for lenses, body and film?? just throwing it out there in case someone has found a great deal, or has been super inventive. thanks!

I always travel with my crumpler bag. Not only does it not look like a camera bag, but it fits all my gear!

I'm possibly switching to a backpack my next trip, but what I've used on my past few trips is not obviously a camera bag at least.

I got a canvas messenger bag

and discovered that there's a camera bag insert that fit it perfectly:

The longer I've had it, the more abused the bag has gotten and the less like anything of value would be in it it looks. The only reason I'm really thinking of switching out is that my travel pack has a zip off daypack and I've been looking at some pack inserts I could use in that to drop a bag from my stack...

It holds a lot (including snacks!) and it is quick to swing around and get you camera out or change lens! Love it. Before this I only carried a pocket camera.

Crumpler for me as well!

Its an older crumpler now (about 4 years old) and has a "hidden" compartment behind the front pocket that you can oonly get to via zip and then velcro. I have the video camera and spare lens in there with the main body in the top section. Awesome!

sweet! i'm not travelling at the moment, but will be back on the road soon enough. now i've got some time to look into all of these options, and maybe more...??
