Last minute trip to NZ. Is it worth going for only 6 days?

Head Down Under and yap about bloody Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. Determine the best place to buy a car, how to get a working holiday visa and the best route for travelling the east coast of Oz and around the Kiwi Islands.

Last minute trip to NZ. Is it worth going for only 6 days?

Postby RRFlyer » August 28th, 2009

I've got a vacation coming up starting next week. Been trying to make some last minute plans but unsure where to go. I've always wanted to see NZ but thought it better to wait until I had at least two weeks. But....plans dont always work.

At any rate I have the chance to go to NZ next week. Leaving LAX on the 3rd/Arriving Auckland on the 5th. Then leaving Auckland again on the 11th.

I know its winter time now but is it worth going for such a short period?

....for some reason I'm having a hard time coming up with places that I would like to see or travel to right now.

Definitely. Of course ideally a longer time would be great but hey if all you have is 6 days then I say do it! That will be the adventure.

Few days late with this comment but maybe others are contemplating a short visit.
From the schedule, looks like RRFlyer would only have five days in NZ.
Unless you're travelling from parts of Oz it's not going to be a particularly cheap or short duration trip. So couple that with the fact that there's a lot to see in NZ and spread between two (large) islands, I'd recommend waiting until anyone has at least two weeks clear. Especially if this is a first time trip and you're not heading directly to a spot that you know appeals to you.
