I just got an HP Mini a month ago and I absolutely LOVE it. I wasn't going to take it traveling because there is generally computers relatively accessible whilst on the road. As my departure nears, I am considering taking it more and more. It is small, powerful for its size, and I think it would be handy to offload pictures and hop on wifi. If you aren't worried about it getting stolen than it may be good to have.

I bought an eee 1005ha for my daughter (and also plugged in 2 gb). Nine punishing months of high school later, it is holding up fine. So, good luck with your purchase!

I mostly go on shorter hops (2-3 weeks). Rather than the heft of even a netbook, I go with the Nokia n810. No phone, but Linux based and tremendous feature set: keyboard, Skype and bluetooth ready, 2 gb, mp3, GPS, and world-class wifi sniffing. A fantastic touch screen, and xd slot, all in roughly the same form factor as an iPhone. It's about $150 on eBay, now that it's been on the market for a while. I've had mine for a year and a half and am super pleased. Great value.

After having spent some time traveling with the HP Mini 110, we have come to see the advantages and disadvantages of working on a ‘netbook’. As such, we've put up a cursory review on our site.

Our conclusion? The HP Mini 110 is one of the best netbook options in the sub-$400 budget netbook category. It offers a nice hardware configuration, a good-looking design and an excellent keyboard. The HP Mini 110 is a very nice option for those on the lookout for a low-cost netbook that they can toss into their packs. For these reasons, it has won itself a place in both our real-world and virtual backpack!

Check out our post here for what sets this netbook apart and what we didn't like about it.
