Ecuador/Northern Peru in January
I am flying into Quito, Ecuador at the end of December and will be there for about a month. I am going to be spending my last week in Mancora, Peru, but i don't know what i should do between there. Anyone have any suggestions? I would like stuff that i could do between Quito and Peru. Thanks for the help!

If you're going only to Mancora in Peru then there is not much around, as it's the north/westernmost point in the country. But, depending on you plans and time schedule you might think of visiting Kuélap, an ancient Chachapoya site. Your other option could be a trip to Trujillo.

We are two Icelandic girls also there around the same time! Although we arrive in Quito 6th Jan. We're gonna do some sightseeing in Quito, go to an indigenous community in the Amazon and then spend a few days in Banos before going to Mancora for a few days and then to Cusco.

Thanks Moniak for the suggestions i would love to visit both of those but unfortunately i won't have the time to make it down that far. Next time i go South i will definitely try and hit those up.
Bakpokinn, Thats awesome that you will be there the same time. We should definitely meet up when we are both there. Which part of the amazon are you planning on visiting?

In southern Ecuador, Cuenca is a must. It is one of my favorite places, and the nearby Las Cajas National Park is stunning.
Podocarpus National Park south of there, near Zamora is really nice if you are into nature.
Travelers we met really enjoyed Vilcabamba, but we never made it there (there were strikes, road blocks on the day we were supposed to travel to that area).
If you want to see some beautiful mountain scenery in Peru, head to Huaraz. I am, however, not sure what the weather is like in January.
