New York City/Morocco or Iceland/France

Postby Ben2Africa » October 25th, 2009

Hi Everyone,

Well I'm not actually doing a RTW, this seems like the best place to post this. In May I'm headed back to Benin, West Africa for 3 or so months. But to get there the best flight options (price-wise) go either via Halifax-New York-Morocco-Benin, or Halifax-Iceland-France-Benin. I'm planning on spending about 4 or 5 days in either New York or Paris, and about 2+ weeks in either Morocco or Iceland. Both are hovering around the same price ($2000!) I'm also tight for cash, and will be doing this as cheap as possible so I'm leaning towards NYC/Morocco at this point. From what I've seen online Paris and Iceland both look very expensive. Also late May/June is my timeframe. July and August I have to be in Benin. I also may travel north to Burkina Faso and fly out from there depending (as always) on funds.
So, to sum up, which route would you choose? Which route would you expect to be cheaper? Is 2 weeks sufficient for Morocco/Iceland?

Thanks so much,
Ben

In terms of where I'd rather spend my time, I'd probably lean towards Iceland, but if finances are tight, then Morocco is definitely the way to go.

Costs of visiting Iceland are as low as you are going to find them, given their financial crises.

Morrocco would still be cheaper, however.
