Looks like I'm going to be having a night in London by myself before the rest of my class arrives the next day. Where is a good area I should stay? I'm going to try and use some reward points I've accumulated over the years. I don't yet know where the school is putting us up so I'm going to pretty much stay wherever I want and then figure out how to get to the school's apartments the next day.
Any suggestions on which area I should stay in?

Re: Where to Stay?
Camden, in near north London is a pretty cool area to hang out in. A big market and plenty of funky little stores to poke around in.
Some interesting walks in London that may influence your choice.

Re: Where to Stay?
Are you coming in from Heathrow?
For ease of transit, it might pay to pick somewhere on the Piccadilly line.
(Sadly, Camden would take about 1.5 hours on the tube from the airport, plus while it's a very fun and funky area - well worth exploring - it's also a tad seedy, esp at night)
Russell Square/Holborne are nice, central areas with some nice hotels, and Holborne is walking distance to Covent garden, Oxford St, Leicester Sq etc if you want to go have a wander round.
(Also, if this is a school thing, these areas are very close to UCL, on the off chance this is the university your college is affiliated with)

Camden definately - i love this area so much - the St Christophers is a good hostel, bit noisy but great location and a good bar attached for good cheap food. The hostel became the official bootsnall meetup hostel for the xmas parties.

Re: Where to Stay?
I think Camden is your authentic choice when coming London. The area is in the north side of the city, reaching from Holborn and Bloomsbury in the south to Hampstead Heath in the north. And you can find a lot of hostels in this place such as St Christopher's Camden and Camden Inn. You can find imformation on websites : www.st-christophers.co.uk and www.smartbackpackers.com. Good luck.
