Hey everyone!
Could anyone tell me how simple (or not) it is to extend your tourist visa while in Brazil? I am planning to book my flight (for a 4-month stay), but I want to hold off until I know whether it's realistic to expect my request to stay beyond the initial 90-day maximum to be granted. I've read up on the process but I'm just not sure how routine (or complicated!) it is. Any info would be super helpful.
Thanks a lot!

It was really no problem for me extending my visa in Sao Paulo. The hardest part was getting to the immigration police office where they do extensions and then waiting in line. I think I had to submit a copy of my credit card, nothing out of the ordinary.

Have a fallback plan. I know of someone who was denied because she gave could not adequately demonstrate financial resources while in Belem.
Rio is more tourist friendly.
