Good day everyone!
We are planning our first trip to Tanzania (and Africa for that matter), and wondering how to pay for the Kilimanjaro trek and the safari to the local operator(s). We don't want to carry this much cash as we are traveling through Nairobi and for personal safety in general. Are traveler's cheque's accepted in Moshi, Arusha or by the operators themselves? Do we have to cash them in ourselves before paying? Is it feasible to securely wire funds to a local bank? Are there any other alternatives? The ATMs does not appear to be a viable option for the larger expenses due to daily limits on withholdings.
Also, is it customary to pre-pay the full trek/safari? What if the operator doesn't deliver? We would be more comfortable paying a portion upon return - has anyone done this or is this not a good idea?
Would be greatful for any advice and sharing of your experiences.
Thanks
