My husband, daughter and self are planning a 5 week travel through Europe and Eastern Europe before we return home in January. We are planning to leave the UK with first stop Stockholm, christmas in Berlin and then down through Prague, Budapest, Slovenia into Istanbul.
We have travelled for 7 months with our daughter across the globe but we have travelled in heat and humidity. She has never been in the cold.
Coming from Australia I am not used to really cold winters either.
I know about using layers and thermals etc but am worried about how she will cope with walking around the city. We would normally put her in the carrier but am worried that she will be freezing.
Any advice for making our 20month old as comfortable as possible in the cold weather while travelling.
thanks

Re: Helping little ones cope with an Eastern European Winter
Hi, I don't know if this will be much help, but I used to take a just small thermal flask of milk (or any drinks that you can warm up) for my children when we trekking around cities/towns/countryside in the winter months. Other than that, yep, blankets/layering (if you're using a buggy) and thermal undies! It may not always be ideal but letting them walk themselves helped a lot too, just keeping them moving not only warmed them up, but distracted a bored/cold/cranky kid at times. Have fun.

I agree with the idea of Kaliz . And I think you shouldn't be worried about this problem because you can be adaptive easily with the cold winter in this place.
