Hello Everyone,
I need recommendations for a Saigon Guest House Recommendation. Want it to be clean, quiet, and in a good location. Price range $12.00 to $30.00
How do SIM cards work in Vietnam? Do you take your Passport and purchase? Do you have a recommendation on a provider?
Thanks
Dan

You'll find lots of things in that price range and lower in the Pham Ngu Lao area. The bus from the airport runs right near there if you're flying in... otherwise I'm sure you'll have no trouble getting there - kind of a backpacker hangout. It's relatively near things, and easy to travel from to wherever you're going next. Can't remember the name of the places I was at, but I was cetainly happy with it. My own room, nice view, hot water in my own bathroom... all for $8 USD.
About the phone, though, have you looked into a skype phone or a netbook instead of a regular mobile yet? wifi is everywhere these days and it's a LOT cheaper than trying to deal with a phone with minutes and SIM cards and such. Plus, if you get the netbook you also have a little computer along as well. It's been working GREAT for me so far... just a thought.
