'touchy' subject: masturbation on the road
How do you deal with it, especially if you're hosteling? This is very important, so answer honestly.

I've had some dry spells, and now that I'm coupled, it's hard to avoid the temptations that await when I'm in Medellin, especially.

I have no idea, but this question made me think of this incident from when we were on a bus in China headed toward Pakistan:
Enjoying the peace and quiet, John and I watched the beautiful scenery pass by knowing that soon we would be back on our bikes again. Suddenly, without any warning, a box stored under my seat shot forward, effectively pinning my legs against the seat in front of me.
As I shouted out in pain, John turned to look behind us to find the cause of my agony. "Don't look now," John whispered to me, "but the guy behind us has his pants down and is whacking off." Startled by John's statement, I immediately turned to confirm it.
"Can I have privacy - PLEASE!" the young Paki cried out as though I had just rudely barged into his private bedroom.

My religion forbids masturbation, so it's not an issue.

Haha 1 week on the road and I was already starting to wonder about this, I even thought about making a similar post. I'm guessing for guys its easier than for girls to sneak one in, like in the shower or something.

Don't eat my eggs; I'll be back Sunday.
But seriously, use the shower, folks. Don't do it while your roommates are trying to sleep like someone tried to do here recently...

I reckon, it depends a bit where you travel. In Asia, that is not really a problem, because you get a single room or a hut for a few bucks.
As for the shower, I know it seems to lend itself to us guys. However, I lined up in a shower once in Antofagasta and heard the guy inside jerk off - that completely destroyed my desire for a shower. And for god's sake - if you masturbate in the shower, make sure all evidence has been rinsed down!!!
And to keep with the anecdotes:
I stayed in a backpacker in Byron Bay, Australia. It was a really cool 'apartment' that we were in: two rooms holding 6 people each, with our own kitchen, bathroom, living room, etc. By that time I've been over partying and just surfed twice a day - once early morning. So, while everybody was out, I stayed back and slept to be ready to go out at 5 am. At around 3 am big commotion. A few girls came home from the party, entered the other room and there was this guy masturbating. Bad enough that he got caught (not hidden under the blanket or anything, but in plain view), but he also didn't really care that there were suddenly 3 girls standing in the room and happily continued his task. Obviously, the girls didn't really feel like sleeping in that room with him. In the morning, the owners kicked him out. I guess, masturbating is a sin after all.
Oh, and Felix, talking about masturbating and then having a link to photos right underneath....uhm...yeah, that scared me a bit. Hahaha.

For guys...can't you just get it done in the bathroom or shower (although...clean up after yourselves!). I think it's a little tougher for women, especially if you are in a shared room.

Actually - the shower can be a girl's best friend too.

At first I was concerned that the Travel Photos below your questions had to do with the topic. Thankfully they did not.
