Here are the FAQs at the tour company's site; there doesn't seem to be a question directly about the shoes, but there's this one:

quote:
All of daily walks take between two and two and one half hours and cover between 1 and 1.5 miles (or under 2 kilometers if you're thinking metric). This time may vary slightly depending on the pace of the group.

Our tours and easy walks at a leisurely pace and all tours enjoy frequent stops along the way. There are no hills, steps, or steep inclines along the walk. We welcome strollers and wheelchairs too. However, pregnant women, elderly persons, and people who have medical concerns or trouble getting around should carefully consider their ability to travel these times and distances with a group. Additionally, children under 4 may find the length of the tour challenging.

As far as shoes go, you should be fine with these.

I'd be interested in the walking tour, I read about it in Fugitives and refugees it sounds interesting. I probally won't make it for breakfast I need at least 4 hours of sleep. And I assume everyone would want me to shower and stuff like that.

I might join the walking tour, and count me in for the Market if I don't make it there on Friday.

Count me in with CaptSteve, either or works for me too, out of town or market. Which ever way things work out.

Count me, count me! Smile I am in for breakfast and market. If the tour we are talking about is the Shanghai tunnel tour then I'm in but don't really care to do just a tour about the downtown area, thank you!

The Shanghai tunnels are included on the tour - at least the topic of them. You can read all about the tour here.

And I've updated the list above to include your name now, Calli. Smile

Wow...a girl spends a week offline and misses everything! Looks like my place of employment is the designated launching point for Friday's pre-party activities. I haven't cleared it with them yet, but I'm sure there will be no problem. It's usually not busy until later and there'll be plenty of room. Callilucy consumes half of her weekly calories there, so the food is certainly passable, and we do fresh squeezed cocktails. There's free pool, a pinball game I don't love and a juke box (playing Alanis Morrisette may result in acts of violence however). We can easily run separate tabs, buy shots in quantity, etc. And should we choose to move on, it's very centrally located and we can easily move about. For those of you arriving late or worried about finding us in general, PM me and I'll give you my number.

As far as Saturday goes...I want to go on the tour but am scared of committing when my pre-party hangovers have been so vicious in the past. Still, pencil me in. I'm definitely up for breakfast and market walking. I've also been jonesing for a trip to the Velveteria, the nation's only velvet painting museum. Maybe a Friday or Sunday trip if anybody's interested.

jillian, if i was wrong about your workplace thats fine, but the last time i talked to you thats what we discussed and for lack of being able to get ahold of you, i assumed that was still the case, but whatever you want is fine-let me know!
