Headed to Ireland end of June 2011. Will be hitchhiking as much as possible...
Do I need a rain jacket? My concern is trying to get a ride in rain soaked clothes.
Ideas from other hitchhikers or just general advice?
Cheers,

Rain Jacket for Hitchhike trek IRL>NI>ALBA ?

I wear a hooded gore tex paclite jacket in Ireland. Sometimes the wind blows pretty hard in addition to the rain.
The feature I most value in a pack is a Sherpa.

A light windproof, waterproof jacket is almost always a good idea. I use a soft shell and it works just fine, though I want to replace it with a slightly thicker one. It's so thin that I get cold from the contact with water drops. It feels like I'm gettig wet, even though it is perfectly wind and waterproof. Unfortunately, the better waterproof shells for slightly colder weather can be very expensive.
