I just heard on the radio that there's some serious rain and flooding in Bavaria at the moment... We're planning to be in Munich/Salzburg in mid-September. What's the weather supposed to be like at that time of year? And is the rain predicted to continue? (Being from the Pacific Northwest, I'm used to rain... I always bring a lightweight rain jacket with me - just wondering if I should bring more than that!)

I haven't heard any predictions of this continuing into September, but if you can read German this is the website of the national center for meteorology and geodynamics, they make all the official predictions for Austria (Salzburg included obviously) and have more infomation than you could possibly want. They also have some info in english.

i am in switzerland courrently and it's really aweful! raining all the time and those floods detroying so many bridges and streets and whole villages...horrible!

but this is absolutely not normal and i am sure you will be fine in september. we don't usually have THIS much rain.i guess you will be able to see the dammage the floods caused, but you will be alright travelling.

The worst danger seems to be over, according to this morning's news. The weather has already improved. You never know about the weather, but these were extraordinary conditions. By mid-September things should be all right, perhaps some damages to be spotted. Going to Salzburg and Munich, you aren't touching the worst areas anyway.
