We are starting our RTW trip on August 10, and just realized we will be in Egypt, Jordan, and India for Ramadan. Anything we should be aware of?
Anyone have any experience travelling in these countries during this time? Advice? etc?
Ramadan Questions?

Re: Ramadan Questions?
I intentionally avoided Ramadan in planning my middle east trip. Egypt is quite tourist-centric, and in India, Muslims are just one of many minorities, so your experience there will probably be largely unaffected. In Jordan, you will probably find that aside from Petra (again, tourist catering), you won't be able to obtain meals during daylight hours. So wake up early for a large breakfast before sunrise. While you can stash some snacks to get you through the day, it would be rude to consume them in public. Likewise with water...have some handy, try to find some privacy to consume it.
The upside is that many travelers report being invited to break fast at the evening meal, which would be a unique experience.

Re: Ramadan Questions?
I travelled through Eastern Turkey, Syria and Jordan during Ramadan - it was an amazing experience.
There was always a restaurant open for meals - sometimes you just had to look a little harder. All our hotels (which were breakfast included) still served breakfast.
We would try to eat after the "Ramadan Rush" (when everyone broke their fast) - just because it was soooo busy. So we would be eating dinner about 9pm.
The only thing to keep in mind is not to eat snack-food in the streets - make sure you are eating in a restaurant or in your hotel.
Ramadan is a party every night, and the beginning and end can be huge! Try to time it so you are in large cities for the beginning and end! Hope this helps.
