Recommendations for a daypack

Hello. Sometime lurker, first time poster.

Been looking at this section for some time now and I hope you guys can come up with a great suggestion. Despite the fact I just travel with carry-on luggage I like to take a small daypack with me. For years this has been a small canvas messenger bag, but after good service patching just doesn't cut it anymore.

My question therefor is this: what would be a great replacement. I'm looking for a daypack that:
- folds up small
- water resistant (preferably)
- should be able to hold a guidebook and water bottle (to give you an indication of the size)

As a disclaimer, I should admit that my daypack is considerably larger than the ones it sounds like you're looking for, so I can't speak personally about whether any of these might be what you're hoping to find or not. One's waterproof, one's small and includes hydration, and one is a messenger sort of bag.

If you were happy with your messenger bag, I'd just get another one. They fold up and are easy to tuck under your arm in crowds. No reason to get a high-tech anything.

Even a normal bag you already have, with some waterproofing spray, would be good to go.

I am happy with a messenger style bag but in my view it's always a good thing to look at the options you have.
