in Malawi!

I was perched precariously amongst screaming babies, boxes of mangoes, raw fish, and a football team from Mzuzu. Every time the truck crashed into yet another crater in the road, everyone would cling to the sides and try to keep from flying out of the cab.

Loads of fun, and I highly recommend it...but make sure you have a tight grip!

Matatus bring back memories of Tanzania and...

The Ultimate Porn Bus!

I sat in this minivan packed full of people. The rickety door was held shut by a tiny guy who had to put all of his weight into it. The ceiling was carpeted in red velvet. The walls were drapped with velour animal prints. Reggae blasted from the scratchy speakers. There was a decrepit chandalier hanging from the ceiling. Yes, a chandelier. About half of the crystals were missing. The ones that still clung to the fake brass kept knocking against the head of a rather tall be-dreaded fellow who tried to put his hand on my thigh as he grinned and grooved to the music.

It really was right out of a bad B-porn.

Sigh. I miss Tanzania.
